Write 31 Days with Friends

In the month of October, I am participating in the 31 Days of Writing challenge.

I want to settle in to what it means to be called, to be the beloved, to be a daughter, to be accepted, to be chosen, to be of faith, to be loved, to be forgiven, to be whole, to be authentic, and to belong.  What does it mean when all of those things collide?  A beautiful mess?  Filthy ashes?  A phoenix rising?  I want to know.  Life is too short not to explore and excavate the depths of who we can become.  Follow along at my blog: marviadavidson.com

You’ll also find some of my very dear writing friends participating in the challenge too.  Their words are passion, restoration, love, writing, gentleness, fire, hope, renewal, grace, wisdom, and peace.

A Letter of Hope

A Love Letter of Hope – A Time for Mourning a Time for Dancing

Life isn’t always beautiful roses and fragrant daffodils.  Sometimes life carries the stench of dead things – dead dreams, dead hopes, dead feelings, loss of people, loss of relationships.  It reeks of pungent rottenness.  We’ve all been there.  Heads hanging so low, not even the sun can lift them.  Hearts so heavy with the ashes of our pain that we are immobilized.  Yes, life isn’t always a beautiful song.  Sometimes it is the wincing melody of screeching nails on black chalkboard.

Dissonance {A Real Talk}

Dissonance.

What do you do when life grates against your core?
What do you choose to remember when soul and mind are is disagreement or disarray?
Do you lean in? Walk away? Bury your head in the sand?
Is dissonance a stigma, or does it point you to a deeper truth?

I find myself in a new season.  It’s one of pruning, releasing, settling, and restoration.  All.  At.  Once.  It’s a bit overwhelming when dissonance shows up on your doorstep.  It demands attention.  It requires my sight and my heart.  So today I am listening, leaning in to the whisper.

Priority Mail {A Poem}

It was torn from the First
Ripped from perfect priority
Frayed and shredded where
Edges bleed life

But there is the faintest
Whisper of redemption

Hope will come
Broken hearts are not lost

The one-winged bird of
My dreams shall fly again
The First shall be restored
The bleeding edges shall
Be mended with the
Balm of Gilead

Hope will come
I will rise.

Fragile Moments

When I lose my way because of fear, doubt, disbelief, or too many chatty world choices – I run to God. I am a person of faith, and lately that faith has been challenged. Look much at the world and all that overwhelm, disarray, and conflict? It’s emotionally, spiritually, and mentally exhausting.

So today, for when your heart breaks, I offer these words.
