Who I am…

Welcome to The Human Impulse!  I’m so glad you’re here.

I started my first blog in 2009 with a different name.  Then I started another one, because I was still trying to figure out what I wanted to write about and take a shine to.

I began my third blog, The Human Impulse, that same year.  That one was a more natural feel.  It was about the impulse within each of us beating softly, refusing to be silent, reminding us who we really are.  And then along came abrupt change which caused me to reconsider who I want to be no matter where I am.  I finally decided to launch under my own self hosted site, and that’s where I am today.

My mission is to live an authentic life in Christ and His word by developing spiritual songs, psalms, and hymns of praise that inspire and draw others to deeper relationship with God.  I want to do this writing work creatively and honestly.

I am am not here to hide nor make excuse for my creative and purposeful expressions of hope just because it may not always be recognized, desired, cool, or popular.

Maybe you want to be a part of that kind of community of people who live out loud and without fear.  Where did you begin?  Why are you here?  I’d love to hear your story.  We all matter in this little finite, swirling ball called earth.

You will find me writing, pondering, creating, dreaming, walking and lie-smashing through the rockity-bumpity journey of life in the wide open spaces of Texas, sipping tea, drinking coffee, splattered with sugary flour dust while baking with family, art journaling, splattering paint, laughing and snorting loudly, or dancing ridiculously just because.

You can find me on Twitter and Instagram.  Sign up for the Marvia Writes newsletter too.  You’ll get exclusive news, encouragement, and updates about my soon-to-be-released memoir.  Click the image below to sign up.
