A Real Talk on grace.
I believe God has placed in each of us divine gifts that are an expression of who He is. Thinking about this idea helps me to remember I’m not on the earth to keep up with anyone else. I’m not here to compete with another soul. There’s no magic “thing” for me to do just to fit in. I can just simply be, and so can you. Grace says keep moving forward, child, you can make it. Grace says, no mistake is great enough to disqualify you from living an abundant life.
We’d love for you to join us. Poem, Song, Essay, Story, Blog Post, or Photo Essay – share the words and images that speak of truth. Your voice will be heard here. We’re ready to hear your stories. We honor each voice here.
All we ask is that you keep it G/PG, share your post, comment on the person before you or after you, and share the link up. As always may our words be seasoned with salt and grace. May our words empower, encourage, and equip.
Change is inevitable. You either move with it, or it moves over you. I’ve decided to move with it. It’s just that time to do so – curating my brand, thoughts, and creative ideas. I started this blog back in 2009, and I want to keep writing about thoughts on living and authentic life. It’s something I value. I also value moving in the direction that is right for me, so you’ll find me writing how a new, self-hosted website. The name is now my own, and you’ll find me at marviadavidson.com. Because being yourself works best when you’re wholly yourself.
I’m grateful for each of you who has followed this blog. I appreciate your support. I invite you to join me there. So come on over.
In the month of October, I’m doing the 31 Days of… writing challenge. It’s Calling the Beloved Home: 31 Days of Excavating Faith. I want to settle in to what it means to be called, to be the beloved, to be a daughter, to be accepted, to be chosen, to be of faith, to be loved, to be forgiven, to be whole, to be authentic, and to belong. What does it mean when all of those things collide? A beautiful mess? Filthy ashes? A phoenix rising? I want to know. Life is too short not to explore and excavate the depths of who we can become.
Today, I give myself permission to fully be. You can do that same for yourself. We are never more alive than when we are most ourselves. We are beautiful stories unfolding.
What is the story you will tell?
Today, I invite you to tell the real-talk truth about imperfection. My offering is a poem. What truth of imperfection is rising up in you? What have you learned about being imperfect? I’ve learned I don’t have to be always perfect. God is doing a good work in me, work that I cannot even begin to do. He is faithful. And His work is perfectly good.
This month I’ll be talking a lot about authenticity, moving forward, staying in your lane, holding faith, being real, being authentic, and how there’s more than enough grace. It’s a 31 Days Of… challenge for me. Maybe you have one too. I invite you to join me on the journey. Kicks off October 1st and runs the entire month. It will perfectly imperfect, and that’s okay.
Till then, here are thoughts on grace.
Grace is not something you have to work for. It is a gift. It’s nothing you could have earned. You don’t have to work to keep it. God did ALL the work. What a relief!!!!
If you want to sign up for the Authenticity Challenge, which is part of my 31 Days of.. project, sign up here. You’ll find encourage to equip you to be more you.
We’re also still doing Real Talk Tuesdays. This weeks topic is: the truth about imperfection. Link goes live Tuesday.
What do you do when life grates against your core?
What do you choose to remember when soul and mind are is disagreement or disarray?
Do you lean in? Walk away? Bury your head in the sand?
Is dissonance a stigma, or does it point you to a deeper truth?
I find myself in a new season. It’s one of pruning, releasing, settling, and restoration. All. At. Once. It’s a bit overwhelming when dissonance shows up on your doorstep. It demands attention. It requires my sight and my heart. So today I am listening, leaning in to the whisper.
